Director of Christian Education

Tracie has served as Tyger River’s Director of Christian Education since 2009.  An ordained Presbyterian minister, Tracie loves children and making the Bible fun and easily understandable for both adults and children.  She grew up in Rock Hill, South Carolina and is a lifelong Presbyterian. Tracie is married to Brian Stewart who is also a Presbyterian minister. They met at Seminary and started a new church in Tennessee for their first call. Tracie and her husband have two boys, Brian Alexander, who is 13, and William James, who is 11.  The Stewarts also have a West Highland terrier named Knox and a cat named Flora MacDonald.  Tracie has a congenital heart defect so she left full time ministry after having her two sons. In 2003, she had open heart surgery and now has cadaver aorta and pulmonary valves.

Tracie graduated from Davidson with a BA cum laude in history. She earned a Master’s of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia.  At Union, she was a WT Thompson Scholar and earned the Lydia Scholarship, which is given to one female seminarian each year in the PCUSA.  She has since served as a part time Director of Christian Education at First Presbyterian Church in Statesville, NC, and at Centre Presbyterian Church in Mooresville, NC.

Tracie has written several Bible studies and currently serves as the Coordinator of the Lydia Scholarship, which she won so many years ago.  She has served her presbyteries in many capacities including being a Minister Commissioner to the 2000 General Assembly and on a Special Committee of the General Assembly. Tracie also works with several national ministries and conferences including the Wee Kirk (small churches) Conference in Montreat.

Tracie loves history, reading, cross-stitch, ACC basketball, antiquing (or junking), holidays and writing.  Her husband, Brian, is currently an Associate Pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Greenville. Tracie loves helping others to deepen their walk with Jesus Christ and is very excited aout all the great things the Lord is doing in the Christian Education ministry at Tyger River!.
