Director of Children’s Music Ministries

Hi everyone! I am so excited about serving as the Director of Children’s Music and look forward to tapping into the raw talent that these kids possess and also building a musical program that strives for excellence, not perfection!

Some of my fondest memories of my home church relate to singing in the children’s choir (and I will never be able to forget some of the lyrics from one of our musicals: “Down by the creekbank by the old holler log”).

I started playing violin in the fourth grade and I think at that moment, a lifelong love of music was born. During high school, I taught private lessons and relished my students’ progress.  I had an amazing time at the Governor’s School for the Arts and was concertmaster of my high school orchestra. Two of my favorite memories from orchestra include a European tour where we performed in cathedrals and playing “Orange Blossom Special” in the high school gymnasium on an electric blue violin!  Talk about extremes!

Most recently, I tried my hand at leading the choir as the Interim Part-time Music Director (thankfully Jason came along when he did!)

My hope is that my background and experience will somehow translate into some ability at music director. I love kids and have fun teaching music during Vacation Bible School and in the Drama room for Promise Land, where we often do musical activities.

I invite you to help grow and nurture this program as we will need many patient and faithful volunteers.  Musical ability is not a prerequisite and the more, the merrier!
